Static-X is one of the most recent bands to hit it big in the Metal category of the music industry. Making their mark with their debut album Wisconsin Death Trip, the band has a very unique sound that can't be missed. Another thing that makes this band stand out is singer Wayne Static's hair. If you see it, you will know it. Resembling somewhat of a treausre troll style.
The band got the title for their CD from a book bought at a flea-market. The book almost 100 years old, the book contains articles and pictures about events that took place in the early 1900's in Wisconsin. ""The title comes from a book I found at a flea market 15 years ago. It is a collection of turn-of-the-century photographs and news articles detailing life in a small Wisconsin town. There were pictures of babies in coffins, reports from mental hospitals, details of murder scenes ... all very haunting. It made a huge impression on me," explains Wayne. The band is made up of 4 persons. Singer and guitarist Wayne, guitarist Koichi, drummer Ken, and bass player Tony.
The band was on the '99 Ozzfest tour with bands such as, Slipknot and Flood. "When I got into a car accident, the ambulance took me to the emergency room. "I was on a stretcher, my head bloody, and the doctor was asking me what I do for a living, trying to keep me from passing out. I told him I was in a band called Static-X and he said that he was on our mailing list and comes to our shows! He gets in free now," says Wayne.
The band is well known for their high-energy shows. Starting off touring with bands such as Fear Factory and (HED)pe, the band entered the music scene in 1999 with a bang. If you want a band with a great vibe, rocking gutar riffs, intense vocals, and a pumping beat then check out Static-X. This band has some big shoes to fill, and fans all over will be waiting to see what Static-X will be doing in the near future.
