Soulfly, one of the bands out there that can survive after a previous breaku with a popular band. Singer of "Sepultura" Max, left the band and started SoulFly. For him the hardest part was trying to continue without Sepultura. "The hardest part was realizing that I had to continue without Sepultura, and I had to find the right people to do that. But the last thing I was gonna do was stop playing music or give up," says Max.

After having a long history of doing vocals with Sepultura it was natural that Max continue singing with SoulFly. The band recieved immediate attention upon their release of debut Soulfly. Later in 1999 they released Soufly again, but this time containing an extra CD. The extra CD had live songs and previously unavailable tracks.

The band's sound is something that resembles a new Sepultura, althought Max would prefer we not say that. He wants everyone to think of Soulfly as Soulfly and not as a new Sepultura. A new edge in heavy rock, the band is quite innovative. "The thing about these guys is that they have the attitude that I wanted in a band, which is to make music, play with fire, and not worry about foolish things. These guys have that. It feels great to go in the rehearsal room and get goosebumps about being in a group again," says Max.

After only releasing one album, along with the Digi-Pak release, fans all over can only wait and see what the band has in store for their next album. As the band matures with the music, we can hope that something exciting will be waiting for us.
